Jackson, TN - The 3rd Annual Lambuth Baseball Leadoff Banquet will be held Saturday January 30th in the Jack Morris Ballroom located on the Lambuth campus. Festivities kick off with a silent auction at 6:00. Several donated items from the community of Jackson and surrounding cities will be up for auction. All proceeds go to the Lambuth Baseball program. The auction will be accompanied by cheese, sausage, crackers and punch until it ends at 7:30. There is no need for a ticket to be admitted to the auction. Everyone is welcome to come and check out the many assortments of gifts such as jewelry, paintings, and photographs along with plenty of sports memorabilia.
The dinner will start at 7:30 and will be followed by a short program. Head Coach John Barlowe will introduce the players and discuss the upcoming season. After Coach Barlowe, the quest speaker will talk.
This years guest speaker is Andy Beal. Andy played for Coach Barlowe at Vanderbilt University before being selected by the New York Yankees in the 5th round of the 2000 MLB Draft. He played five seasons in the Yankees organization getting as high as AAA Columbus. In his five year career in the Yankees organization he garnered a record of 38-29 and was named a short season All-star in 2000. Beal finished his baseball career in 2005 when he played one season of Independent Baseball with the Atlantic City Surf.
Andy is currently involved with Bellevue Church in Memphis, TN. He hosts FCA sports camps for local high school teams and teaches "The Exchanged Life" through Bellevue's Disciple Life Ministry. Andy and his wife, Tracey, have one daughter, Laurel, and they are expecting their second child in late April. The Lambuth Baseball family is very excited to hear Andy speak on this special day.
Tickets are $35 and are available by calling John Barlowe at 731-425-3385 or Jason Anderegg at 731-425-3441. With a purchase of a ticket each individual is eligible to win a 42" Flatscreen TV or a $500 gift card on top of admittance to the dinner. All proceeds will be put back into the Lambuth Baseball program.
