The Lambuth Eagles saw their season come to a close at the A.I.I. Tournament in Orangeburg, S.C. Saturday night. The Eagles fell to Life College 118-90.
The game was an intense affair from the very start. It was a fast pace game with a total of 64 turnovers in the contest. Lambuth had 35 turnovers while Life had 29.
Life shot 51 percent while Lambuth shot 44 percent from the field.
Shaun Merriweather led Lambuth with 18 points. Antwan Long scored 14 points while Nakeem Floyd and Matt Smigielski both had 12 points.
Lambuth finished 16-11 on the year.
Antwan Long and Xavier Price were named All-Conference while Shaun Merriweather was named to the Second Team All-Conference squad. Devance Harris was named Conference Freshman of the Year.
Coach Kevin Burton commented on the game and season. " Life is as good of a team as we have played all year. They struggled early in the year but may be playing as well as anyone in the nation right now. I think they have a shot to win it all." Burton added, " I love my kids. They have been a joy to work with this year. I am really proud of each of them."
