Coach Ron Dickerson Instructs Players During Spring Practice
The NAIA on Monday released the 2010 NAIA Football Coaches' Top 25 Spring Poll. The Eagles of Lambuth University notched 317 votes to come in ranked No. 6. The Eagles
The Eagles finished No. 6 in last seasons' final poll.
Defending national champion Sioux Falls (S.D.) holds the No. 1 spot.
The Eagles won the Mid-South Conference with a 12-1 record in 2009. Lambuth returns 16 starters from that squad. Lambuth ranked fifth in the NAIA in pass offense (309.5ypg) and eighth in scoring offense (38.1ppg). Lambuth reached the Quarterfinals of the FCS last year before losing to Saint Xavier (ILL). Junior wide receiver Rodrick Jefferson returns for his senior season. He led the team in receptions (74). yards (1, 160) and touchdowns (12)-he was 11th in the nation in receiving yards per game (96.7). Jamie Payton returns as the heart of the defense. The All-Conference performer led the squad in tackles last year. Several other key players return. Offensive lineman Josh Profit, tight end Oscar Dudley,and receiver Josh Wimbley will be called upon to lead the offense.
The Eagles, for the most part have a new coaching staff, led by first year head coach, Ron Dickerson.
