Freshman Has Slugged 14 Home Runs
When former Lambuth Coach Jack Peel recruited Natalye Chudy he knew should could hit. While at Lyon College he had heard of her ability and had seen her tie the Conway High School record for round-trippers. He was a happy coach the day she signed with Lambuth University in Jackson, TN.
Although Coach Peel was not around to see his recruit play her freshman year with Lambuth, he accepted a position at Trevecca College in Nashville, he has to be proud he hit a home run when he persuaded her to attend Lambuth.
Coach Bubbles Lee is another proud coach as well. In her first season as Lambuth's coach , one must wonder even he she knew Chudy would rewrite the record books at Lambuth her freshman season. Chudy has hit 14 home runs this year.
Many teams have elected to pitch around her in the line-up, but that has not discouraged the slugger from Conway. She has taken it in stride and continued to be a leader as a freshman.
Coach Lee commented, " Natalye is not only a great player but a great person. She has a great attitude and it is a pleasure to coach her. She is a feared hitter who is smart at the plate."
Chudy was a three-time All-State player at Conway and a member of the National Honor Society. The night she tied the home run record at Conway High School her grandfather passed away. The very moment she hit the home run he went on to heaven. To this day, Natalye believes he carried the ball over the fence for her and is with him every time she is up to bat. When she hit # 14 against Bethel she was playing with three injured fingers. She told her Mom after the game it was her grandfather who helped her grip the bat.
She is a Sports Medicine and Athletic Training Major.
Despite injuries throughout the season the Lady Eagles are now a respected opponent. The respect gained has come from several factors. One of those is the day Coach Peel persuaded Natalye to sign with Lambuth.
Lambuth closes out their season Tuesday at CBU in Memphis.
