Jackson, TN – In the NAIA men’s soccer national rankings released earlier today the Eagles of Lambuth University made their season debut on the list coming in tied with Mid-Continent College at number 25. The Eagles were able to climb into the national spot light this past week by compiling an overall record of 7-3 and a 4-1 mark in the TranSouth Conference. One of Lambuth’s three loses comes from NCAA institution Christian Brothers University and one comes from the NAIA’s #6 Lee University.

The ranking marks the first time since 2002 that the Eagles have made the national poll when they enjoyed a program high #16 ranking. "I am very pleased with this achievement," commented head coach Paul Conway.

"We have been able to put together a good squad this season and this ranking is evidence of that; I am confident that our lads are very good and I hope to see us climb higher in the polls before season’s end. Our lads have worked hard to bring national recognition back to the Lambuth Eagles Soccer program and we look forward to the rest of the season." Conway is 40-38-2 overall and is in his fifth season at Lambuth.

"Lambuth University is very proud of Coach Conway and the Eagles," said Don Shaver, Director of Intercollegiate Athletics when learning about the #25 ranking. "At Lambuth, we stress to our student-athletes the importance of success in the classroom and on the field; this achievement is evidence of that."

The eagles are led in scoring by junior Wade Wadsworth of Kingston, Jamaica who has amassed seven goals during the season as well as an assist. Senior team captain JW Hunt leads the team in assists with four.

The Eagles will be back in action on Friday October 5, as they take on Milligan College in Milligan College, TN at 5:00pm CST.
