Jackson, TN - Who says Tigers are better swimmers than Eagles? The faithful Lambuth swimming fans were thanked yesterday with a 259-254 win over the Campbellsville University Women's Swim Team.
Lambuth's ladies took all the top rankings in High Point winners with Ashlee David and Andrea Mason tied at 60 points each, Lore' Spencer at 54 followed by Hannah Burch with 45 points. Highlights of the meet were Ashlee David's 100 Breast stroke time of 1:14.84 (less than half a second away from the NAIA National Qualifying Time).
Andrea Mason's 50 Free time of 26.70 (hundredths of a second away from NAIA National Qualifying Time), Lore' Spencer's 50 Free time of 27.54, Hannah Burch's 200 Free time of 3:13.04 which was 16.48 seconds faster than her best ever time, and the 200 Medley Relay Team's time of 2:10.62 which was a second short of the NAIA National Qualifying Time.
Fans were also treated to an exhibition meet from the Lambuth Men as well, with great swims by JW Hunt and Chris Shumate returning from a long swimming hiatus and returning Senior James Dozier. Coach Thauer said " I'm really pleased with how the team swam today, and it is especially sweet for these ladies to get a win over a team that out numbered them 4 to 7. They have been working hard and achieving goals left and right. I'm confident that our swimmer's times are going to continue to drop and they are going to make a good show at the NAIA National Meet in San Antonio this spring."
