Jackson, TN - Lambuth graduated five seniors from last season’s squad, including 2nd Team All-Conference outfielder, Kylene Etzel. New faces will dot the roster on this year’s team. Coach Tanner has high expectations for the senior class as well. Some of the newcomers are expected to be impact players and help the Lady Eagles improve on last year’s record.
Lambuth has four returning seniors who were starters last season. Shortstop, Megan Young, along with pitchers, Julie Ledford, Anne Leslie Wakefield and Wendi Makus are expected to have big years for the Lady Eagles. Makus was 2nd Team All-Conference in 2007. Sophomores, Paige Pyburn and Molly Wright are also returning starters.
Four transfers are expected to be key members of the squad. Alyson Taylor, Jessica Brown, Lindsey Akin and Kim Byrne. Taylor and Brown are transfers from Bevill State. Akin comes to Lambuth from Yuba College while Byrne played at Butte College.
Last season the pitching staff was one of the strengths of the squad. The defense and hitting should be much improved. Combine those factors along with the veteran pitching staff and the 2008 year promises to be a good one for the Lady Eagles.
