After less than a week on the recruiting trail, Lambuth football coach Hugh Freeze  was still able to land eight new players  to  his  first recruiting class.

Three of the eight are from Jackson Christian School in Jackson, TN. JCS wide receivers Isaac Grizzell and Tanner Perkins and linebacker Ben Cooper will play for the Eagles.

Lambuth also signed offensive lineman Tyler Smothers of Fayette-Ware High School in Somerville, TN

Dyersburg, TN linebacker Beau Liljenquist inked with Lambuth. He was a first team All-West Tennessee pick with 126 tackles last season.

Northwest Mississippi Junior College standout, Anton Anderson commited to the Eagles as well.

Joshua Wimbley, a wide receiver from Memphis Westwood will be moving 80 miles to the East to wear the Blue and White.

Jamie Payton from Dutchtown, LA chose the Eagles over several other schools.



Coach Freeze is excited about thses early commitments. " These young men are focused on winning, and these players come from winning programs that know about winning.
 
Smothers is a player with great tenacity. I was recruiting him when I was at Ole Miss. Anderson is a lockdown corner and Payton will be an All-American NAIA linebacker."

Freeze also added, " We are going after 12 to 15 more players. We need a running back and rush end and one more linebacker. We also need a kicker in this class."
