Henderson, TN - The Lambuth University Eagles have not lost to Freed-Hardeman since 2002. There have been some close calls in the series and Thursday night at FHU it was no different. The Lions actually led the Eagles 80-76 with just under five minutes left. Lambuth outscored FHU 20-9 to win 96-89.
Four players scored in double-digits for the Eagles.
Glen Dandridge scored 23 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Jeremy Weddle tossed in 19 and collected seven boards.Corey Webster found his shooting eye with 17 points. Trey Pearson appeared to back to his old self with 17 points and five assists. Pearson had missed several games with the flu. Lambuth held FHU to only 10 offensive boards.
Coach Kevin Burton was pleased with the win." We beat a very good and well coached team tonight. I hope they finish well and get into the National Tournament. Coach Shelton has done a terrific job with his squad and we are lucky to get out of here with this win. Glen was big time at the end. I could see the look in his eyes. Corey made some big shots and Trey did what he always does and that is to put us in a position to win. Jeremy made some huge plays in the paint and was a key for us again. With our big guys in foul trouble we were able to hold on, and I am very pleased the way we finished."
The No. 8 Eagles move to 19-3 on the year and 11-2 in the league.
Lambuth meets Bethel Saturday afternoon with tip-off at the Athletic Center at 4pm. Listen to the game on WAMP, 88.1 & 99.1 or on the web at lambutheagles.com. The game will also be televised on E-Plus TV 6.
