Jackson, TN - The Lambuth Eagles took early command of their game against Bethel and cruised to a 92-65 win Saturday afternoon. Three Eagles scored in double figures, led by Corey Webster with 20 points. Glen Dandridge had 19 and Jeremy Weddle tossed in 15.
The win moves No 8 Lambuth to 20-3 on the season and 12-2 in the TranSouth Conference. With the win the Eagles remain in first place in the league.
The win marked the the 14th time the Eagles have scored 90 or more points in a game this season. Lambuth moves to 17-0 when they outshoot their opponents and 18-2 when they force the opponents into more turnovers. Bethel had 33 turnovers in Saturday's contest.
Coach Kevin Burton commented in his post-game radio show," We wanted to make Bethel uncomfortable when they had the ball. Our pressure bothered them. We will have to shore up our paint defense as the last two games we have not defended well at times. Trevecca has some big people who can be tough to defend so we need to get that corrected before Monday night."
Lambuth will host the Trojans Monday night with tip-off at 8pm. The Eagles beat Trevecca in Nashville earlier this year, 90-84. Corey Webster led five players who finished in double figures in that game with 21 points.
Rick James had 22 points to lead Trevecca. Trevecca is coming off a 65-52 win over Lyon College. The No 15 Trojans are 18-5 overall and 10-3 in the conference.
