Lambuth University put on an offensive display in Thursday's 90-69 TranSouth Conference win over Union at Lambuth.

The Eagles placed four players in double figures, led by Corey Webster's 21 points. Lambuth, ranked No. 7 in the NAIA, improved to 22-3 overall, 14-2 in conference play. Union is 13-11, 7-7.

Lambuth's Jeremy Weddle had 19 points, and the Eagles got 17 points from Trey Pearson and 13 from Antawn Coby.

"When Antawn (Coby) subbed, it created tempo," Lambuth coach Kevin Burton said.

Lambuth shot 48 percent for the game and connected on 11-of-29 behind the 3-point line.

As efficient as Lambuth was shooting the 3-pointer, Union's Matt Neaville, the nation's leader behind the arc, finished 0-for-8 and scored two points for the game. He was averaging 24.8 points a game.

"We were concerned," Burton said. "We were up by six (46-40) at half and (Neaville) had zero field goals."

However, it was a 30-foot shot by Pearson as time expired to give the Eagles their biggest lead of the first half.
The shot and lead proved to be a good omen for the Eagles, who improved to 21-0 when leading at halftime.

Union held a 33-27 lead with seven minutes to play in the first half, but Lambuth went on a 19-7 run.

Webster was 9-of-14 from the field, including 3-of-6 on 3-point shooting.

"Our defensive rebounding kept (Union) off the offensive boards," Webster said.

That helped the Eagles hold Union to 39-percent shooting in the second half as Lambuth picked up 21 defensive rebounds.

Youssoupha Sene led the Eagles with seven rebounds, the same number turned in by Union's Ryan Merriman and Tacuma Alexander.

Union outrebounded Lambuth 37-34.

Brian Lake and Tony Brown were the only Bulldogs in double figures with 19 and 14 points, respectively.
However, Union turned the ball over 24 times compared to 11 for Lambuth.

"We stuck to what we do best," Webster said. "We put pressure on defensively and pushed the ball offensively."

Lambuth pushed the six point halftime lead to a 21-point win, shooting 53 percent in the second half.
Union shot 46 percent in the first 20 minutes but cooled to 39 percent after intermission.
