The Lambuth University tennis squads opened the 2008 season with a sweep of CBU Wednesday afternoon at Lambuth. A cold and raw weather day did not hamper the netters wearing the blue and white. The men won 11-0 while the women won 8-1.
Rachel Freeman and Laurel Meriwether won their doubles match 8-2 over Mills and Mohan. Elizabeth Austin and Ashley Rimmelin captured their doubles affair over Bates and Mellow 8-4. Anna Engels and Aubrey Moore won their doubles event 8-0 over Jerden and Atkins.
On the men's side Brad Robbins and Will Magee won over Sakkan and Franklin 8-4. Stephen Harvill and Ryan Swift beat Wyreck and Gibbs 8-0. The doubles team of Kethan Darbar and Bennett Walker beat Eddy and Mooney 8-1.
In women's singles, Rachel Freeman lost her match against Mills, 6-0, 6-0. Elizabeth Austin beat Mohan 6-3, 6-2. Laurel Meriwether beat Bates 6-3, 6-4. Ashlee Rimmelin beat Jerden 8-2. Anna Engels beat Vanover 6-1, 6-3. Aubrey Moore beat Mellow 6-1, 6-2.
In men's singles, Stephen Harvill beat Sakkan 6-1, 6-0. Brad Robbins beat Franklin 6-1, 6-0. Ryan Swift beat Gibbs 6-0, 6-4. Kethan Darbar beat Eddy 6-1, 6-1. Will Magee won over Mooney 6-0, 6-0. Ben Walker won over Wyreck 8-0. Bryan Almand beat Nreolini 8-0 and Pedro Martins beat beat Spontanski 8-0.
The squads will be back in action Friday, February, 29 against Lyon College. The matches begin at 1pm. at Lambuth.
