Not since 1995 had the Lambuth Eagles captured a regular season conference championship. That all changed Thursday night in Pulaski, TN as the # 3 Eagles beat # 11 Martin Methodist  95-79. Five players scored in double figures with Glen Dandridge leading the way with 27 points. It was the 11th straight win for Lambuth.
Coach Kevin Burton said, "We played well in the first half and then held on to beat a very talented team. They had lost only one game at home all year. Glen had a super game and Trey along with Jeremy provided some big plays that made a difference.We are proud of this title. We share this moment with all of our fans, especially Dr. Brady Whitehead. We all love him and his family and are deeply saddened by the loss of Dr. Emmy Lou Whitehead." Dr Whitehead passed away Monday.
 
The Eagles returned home Saturday for the final regular season game of the year. Emotions ran high as Lambuth honored eight seniors. It was also Alumni Appreciation Day. In cermonies held between the games, framed jerseys were given to all eight seniors. Kierren Lovick, Paul Narcisse, Jeremy Weddle, Steve Gray, Glen Dandridge, Trey Pearson, Michael Beasley and A.J. Adams all received standing ovations from the Lambuth faithful.
 
The Eagles did not disappoint the big crowd with a 101-67 victory. Jeremy Weddle had another terriffic game. He had 22 points.The Eagles shot 56% from the floor and forced the Scots into 23 turnovers. After missing seven of their first eight shots Lambuth caught fire and hit 17 of their next 22 attempts. The Eagles led 53-22 at the half. Lambuth is 25-0 when leading at halftime. The Eagles won their 12th straight game. It was the ninth time Lambuth has scored 100 points or more in a game. The Eagles are 9-0 when scoring 100 or   more. The crowd roared their approval as Michael Beasley hit a late bucket in the contest. The senior has battled back from injuries and is a big crowd  favorite.
 
These two teams could meet again Thursday night at Lambuth in the TranSouth Conference Tournament. Lyon faces Mid-Continent Tuesday night in Batesville.  The winner plays Lambuth Thursday night at the Athletic Center with tip-off at 7pm.
