Nashville, TN - The TranSouth Athletic Conference released the 2007-2008 men's basketball all-conference team and postseason awards. Lambuth had an award-winning season as senior Glen Dandridge was awarded Player of the Year, Corey Webster was named Freshman of the Year, and head coach Kevin Burton was given Coach of the Year.
Glen Dandridge, a 6'6 guard originally from Virginia averaged 15 points per game and shot 47 % from the field. He shot 37 % from three-point range and 88% from the free-throw line. Dandridge averaged five rebounds per game during the regular season.
Corey Webster, a 6"0 freshman averaged almost 12 points per game, while shooting 47 % from the floor. The freshman shot 40% from three-point range and 77 % from the charity stripe.
Lambuth University Head Coach Kevin Burton had another fantastic season. He coached the Eagles to their first regular season championship since 1995. The Eagles lead the nation in scoring per game averaging almsot 96 points per contest. The # 3 ranking is the highest in school history.
Joining Dandridge on the First Team Squad is senior Trey Pearson. Pearson averaged 13.3 points per game during the regular season. Pearson led the team in assists and collected four rebounds per contest.
Jeremy Weddle had a great regular season and most Lambuth fans would agree should have been a First Team selection. Weddle averaged 15 points per game and led the Eagles in steals.
Lambuth will begin tournament play Thursday night at home against the winner of the Mid-Continent- Lyon College game.
The Eagles finished the regular season at 26-3 and 18-2 in league play. Lambuth won the their last 12 games in a row.
Coach Kevin Burton said, "I am really happy for our players. Many times individual awards fall into line as a result of team success. I am happy they are being recognized as a result of their accomplishments."
