Lambuth President Dr. Fred Zuker announced today the purchase of Lions Field.
Jackson, TN — Lambuth University President R. Fred Zuker announced Tuesday afternoon the acquisition of a local iconic venue.

The school has purchased Lions Field located off Arlington Avenue just west of Lambuth University’s campus from the Downtown Lions Club. The field opened in 1957.

The field and complex, which has been a venue where thousands of young people learned the game of baseball, will now be the home of the Lambuth Lady Eagles softball team.

Downtown Lions Club President Josh Allen commented, “Our main focus was to keep the facility an athletic venue. We are proud of the history of the field and as always wanted to give back to the community. One way to do just that was to help Lambuth University with their expansion. The university is an important part of the neighborhood and city. The monies from this sale will be reinvested into the community through our eyesight program.”

Dr R. Fred Zuker said, “ We are pleased to work with the Downtown Lions Club in making this venue an important part of our campus. The history of the field speaks for itself. The Downtown Lions Club has a long history of giving back to the community. This facility is an important phase of our athletic expansion. Just as thousands of young people’s lives have been enhanced by this facility we are proud to say that Lambuth will now be a part of that heritage and tradition.”

Lambuth Softball Coach Shannon Tanner said, “ We are so excited the University has made this move. It will help in our recruiting and we will be great for our players and fans.”
