Brent Ebinger gained his team leading fifth win in Lambuth's 3-1 victory over Martin Methodist

Pulaski, TN – The Lambuth Eagles baseball squad watched as four inches of snow fell from the sky on late Friday night. The nine-inning game was cancelled on Saturday, but less than 48 hours after the snowfall, the Eagles and Redhawks battled for fourteen innings of great TranSouth Baseball. Martin Methodist took the first game of the doubleheader and Lambuth answered right back to win the second.

In the first game, the Redhawks jumped out to an early 2-0 lead after a Bratton two-run homerun. Martin Methodist would add one more in the third and three more in the fifth off of Lambuth starter Tony Perez. Perez (3-2) dropped his second consecutive decision throwing a complete game giving up seven hits and striking out five. The Eagles offensive just could no muster any runs early. Down 6-0 in the top of the seventh Henry Sanchez led the inning off with a double and was followed by a Bryan Willsey home run. That was all the offense the Eagles would get dropping game one 6-2. Ryan Concannon had two hits for Lambuth, one being a double.

Brent Ebinger took the ball in the second game and made sure that Lambuth came away with at least one win. Ebinger (5-1) gave up one unearned run on five hits while striking out five and walking only one. Ebinger dropped his league leading earned run average to a team low 1.15. Offensively, the Eagles jumped on the board in the second when with one out Brad Barnes and Bryan Willsey singled and Brandon Craig drove Barnes in with two outs in the inning. Willsey made the score 2-0 in the fourth inning when he hit a home run for the second consecutive game. Martin Methodist would add a run in the bottom of the fourth to cut the lead to 2-1. Lambuth put an insurance run up in the seventh when James Poole doubled in Ryan Concannon who had walked earlier in the inning. Willsey had three hits on the day and Poole and Craig each added two.

After the weekend the Eagles now have a record of 14-8 overall and 3-2 in the TranSouth Conference. Lambuth has two midweek games scheduled this week as they are on spring break. On Tuesday Belhaven College comes to town for a 2:00 PM start and on Wednesday the Eagles will take on William Carey, game time is 12:00 PM. Hope to see you all at the ballpark!!
