James Poole went 4 for 4 with 2 homeruns in Lambuth's 10-3 victory

Jackson, TN – The Lambuth Eagles were clicking on all cylinders on Tuesday morning at Lambuth Field. Because of weather conditions the game was moved up two hours. The original start time was supposed to be noon. This did not interrupt the flow of the Eagle offense as they pounded out thirteen hits in route to a 10-3 victory over Lindsey Wilson.

The Eagles got things going right from the start as leadoff hitter Brandon Craig started the game with a home run to left field. Lambuth would get back on the board in the third inning when Mike Davis led the inning off with a double and would later score on a throwing error. With two outs in the same inning James Poole would hit a two-run home run to expand Lambuth’s lead to 4-0. The Blue Raiders would cut the lead to 4-1 with a solo shot in the top of the fourth.

Lambuth answered right back in the bottom half of the inning when Chris Siljendahl doubled and scored and Craig walked and scored. In the fifth Poole would hit his second homerun of the day and the season, a solo shot to centerfield and Ben White would drive in Ryan Hanson and Craig with a double. Lindsey Wilson would hit another solo homerun in the top of the sixth to make the score 9-2. Lambuth would score in the bottom of the eighth and the Blue Raiders would score one in the ninth for the final of 10-3.

Offensively the Eagles were led by several members. Brandon Craig was 2-3 with a homerun and three runs scored, Mike Davis was 3-4 with a double and a RBI and Ryan Hanson was 2-4 with a double and a run scored. Every one of the Eagles played very well, but the day belonged to James Poole. Poole was 4-4 with two homeruns, two runs scored and three RBI’s.

The pitching staff split the game for the Eagles. Brent Ebinger got the start and threw two scoreless innings for the win. Ebinger improved to 6-1 on the season. Kory Bates threw a scoreless third, Erin Keel struck out three in two innings of work, Dylan McCurry struck out two in one inning, Travis Humes threw a scoreless seventh and Tony Perez finished the game giving up one run and striking out one.

The win improved the Eagles to 16-10 overall and 4-2 in the conference. The Eagles will host Bethel College in a three game TranSouth Conference series starting Friday at 2:00 PM. Hope to see you all at the ballpark!!!
