Jackson, TN - On Wednesday the Lambuth Eagles baseball team drove to St. Louis to take on Harris Stowe State University. With the Eagles winning 2-1 with one out in the bottom of the fifth the game was called because of the rain. The Eagles were forced to come home without a victory and lost their sixth game of the season due to bad weather.

On Thursday Lambuth recieved good news for a change as the new NAIA Top 25 Coaches Poll was released. Lambuth Baseball recieved two votes which put them in the recieving votes section for the first time in the previous three years. This poll is the third poll released for the 2008 season, which is voted on by coaches from around the nation. There is a buzz around Jackson about Lambuth baseball and this poll proves there is a buzz around the nation about Lambuth Baseball, also.

The Eagles would learn a second bit of good news later on in the afternoon when RHP Erick Sanchez would be granted a medical hardship redshirt, which would allow Erick to return next season for his senior season. Sanchez started the season as the teams number three starter. He pitched in seven games compiling a record of 1-0 with a 1.96 ERA. Erick was diagnosed with a slight stress fracture in his right humerous after the Union University series. Erick will be welcomed back with open arms to finish his playing career next season.

The Eagles look for more good news this weekend as they travel to Lebanon, TN to take on the defending TranSouth Tournament champions in Cumberland University. The series starts on Saturday at 12:00 PM with a doubleheader. Hope to see you all at the ballpark!!!
