Tony Perez improved to 6-3 in the Eagles 5-3 win over Crichton

Jackson, TN – The Lambuth Eagles baseball team took a three game winning streak into this past weekend and ended the weekend on a six game winning streak. Lambuth took advantage of great pitching performances, timely hitting in all three games and great defense. The Eagles scored five runs in all three games winning 5-3, 5-1 and 5-2.

In the first game of the three game set Tony Perez gained his sixth win of the year going throwing a complete game giving up three runs on seven hits while striking out seven. Perez (6-3) set the tone for the pitching staff for the rest of the weekend. Offensively the Eagles had an all-around great performance from everyone. Brandon Craig hit his third homerun of the season, while Henry Sanchez added two hits one of which was a double. Ben White scored two runs and Ryan Concannon and Bryan Willsey each added an RBI.

Lambuth kept the momentum rolling in the second game as Brent Ebinger threw another complete game giving up one run on six hits and struck out six. Ebinger improved to 9-1 on the year, which is good for first in the conference in wins and is currently in the top five in the nation. Bryan Willsey hit his seventh home run of the season, which ties Mike Davis for the team lead. Willsey added a two RBI double in the fifth for a 2-3 day with 3 RBI's. Davis also helped the offense with a 3-4 day with two doubles.

On Sunday Lambuth went for the three game sweep as they sent Kory Bates to the hill. Bates (4-2) threw four solid innings collecting his first win in his last three starts. Erin Keel threw three solid innings of relief giving up no runs on two hits. Dylan McCurry held the Comets scoreless in the eighth and Matt Fike picked up his first save of the season with a 1-2-3 ninth inning. Once again Bryan Willsey led the offensive attack with two hits both of which were doubles. Willsey ended the week going 6-15 with four doubles, a home run and six RBI's. Willsey drove in or scored the winning run in all four wins the Eagles had this week. Mike Davis was 2-4 on the day and went 7-14 on the week with four doubles.

The Eagles do not get to enjoy the success of the good week for long as they embark on the toughest week of the season. Monday the Eagles will travel to the University of West Alabama to play a nine-inning game against the 20th ranked team in Division II. On Wednesday the Eagles will travel to North Alabama and then Friday and Saturday the Eagles travel to take on #24 Freed-Hardeman in a battle for second place in the TranSouth Conference. The Eagles have a tough stretch of games for the final two weeks of the season; we hope you can support the guys. We hope to see you all at the ballpark!!
