Not since 2005 has the Lambuth University Baseball squad been to the regional tournament. That  changes tomorrow afternoon at 4 p. m. as John Barlowe's squad appears in the 2008 Region XI Baseball Tournament at Cumberland University in Lebanon, TN.

Barlowe, the conference coach of the year , leads his Eagles into the tournament with a 29-22 record. The Eagles were picked to finish ninth in the conference but finished the regular season with a 15-8 conference mark. That was good enough to finish second in league play.

The Eagles are the  fourth  seed in the six team field and will meet the host school, the Cumberland University Bulldogs, at 4 p.m. Tuesday in Lebanon.

Brent Ebinger will take the mound for the Eagles in the opener. Brent finished the season with a 10-2 mark and an ERA of 3.09.

Coach John Barlowe commented on the Eagles appearance in the tournament. " We are very happy to represent our school in the regional. This is a watermark for our program. It has been a while since Lambuth has been in this position. We did not play well in the conference tournament and this is a great opportunity for us to get back on track and continue our season. There are some great teams in this regional and we need to be back at the top of our game."
