Lebanon, TN – The Lambuth baseball team ended a very successful season this past Wednesday bowing out of the Region XI Tournament after two losses. Day one saw Lambuth match up with TranSouth tournament champions and national powerhouse Cumberland University. Lambuth took an early 1-0 lead and was trailing 2-1 going into the sixth inning. Brent Ebinger took the mound for the Eagles after a very successful season. Brent was named 1st Team All-Conference and 1st Team All-Region after going 10-1 on the mound for the Eagles this season. Ebinger gave Cumberland all he could muster the first five innings, but ran out of gas in the sixth and Cumberland took advantage of some Lambuth miscues to put the game out of reach quickly.
The second day saw Lambuth matching up with the second hottest club in the region in Martin Methodist. The Redhawks were coming off a 12-1 upset of the number one seeded University of the Cumberlands, who were also ranked seventh in the nation. The hot bats continued into Wednesday's game as Martin Methodist jumped out to a 5-0 lead. Lambuth did not want their season to end and in the nest two innings scored six runs to take a 6-5 lead. The Redhawks would tie the game in the fifth inning, and like the day before the pitching of the Eagles would falter in the sixth giving up four runs and Lambuth would fall behind for good. Martin Methodist would add eight more runs to win the game 18-7 and end the season for the Eagles.
