Jackson, TN - The recipe for a great baseball team is a mixture of new young talent with a mixture of older talent. Lambuth baseball had some success early in the recruiting campaign to sign some young talent. Now, Coach John Barlowe announces the signing of four Junior College players that will help in the recipe for success by adding some maturity and experience.
Paul Bucher is a second baseman from Shawnee Community College Ullin, IL. Paul is the son of Will and Alyce Bucher. Paul will not be the first one in his family to play college baseball, as his older brother Matthew also played baseball for Lambuth University. Paul will bring speed and great leaderhip to the team. He will be looked upon to maintain his steady defensive play and continue to get better on the offensive side. Paul played for Coach Greg Sheppard at Shawnee Community College.
Corye Jennings signs with the Eagles after spending two seasons at East Mississippi Community College playing for Tony Montgomery. Corye possesses a very hard work ethic that will translate on and off the field. Corye will join the Eagle infield and look to fight for a spot at first base.
Corye Jennings signs his Athletic Award agreement with his parnets and Coach Barlowe.
Two Tennessee Junior College players also decided that Lambuth would be a great place to finish their playing career and school. Bart White of Volunteer State Community College and Charles Fowlkes of Chattanoga State Community College.
Bart played for the Region VII Tournament runner-up. Bart will look to fill the void left in the outfield by Ryan Concannon, whose eligibilty is up. Bart is a big strong kid, who will hit for power and has a very strong throwing arm. Bart is the son of Bart White and Nancy Sneed. Bart finished his freshman year at Vol State for Coach Mike Crossland hitting .283 with 9 homeruns and 30 RBI's.
Charles Fowlkes played for Coach Greg Dennis at Chattanoga State. Coach Dennis has this to say about Charles: "Charles red-shirted last spring and has worked hard to develop even more on the mound. A consistent performer who takes his work seriously, Charles is the type of young man that is only going to get better and make those around him better." Charles will enter Lambuth as a Sophomore, but will be looked upon as a true leader. Charles is the son of David and Pam Fowlkes.
Coach Barlowe said, "I am very excited to add experience to our team. Not only do these four have experience, but they all know how to play the game of baseball and they will be teachers to the young players."
