The 2008 season promises to be a different year for the Lady Eagles. The squad would be the first to tell you 2007 was a disappointing year. Lambuth finished 13-20. Many of the contests were decided with the final decisive points.
With a new coach and some key returning players the 08 season will open with high hopes. Add some new faces to the mix and it could be a very successful season in 08.
Senior Christie Hartkopf returns after averaging 2.0 kills per game last year. She will be joined by fellow senior Monica Braun, who averaged 1.0 blocks per game.
Other top returners include, seniors Kathrine Leger and Emma Johnson. Leading the junior class will be Robin Rutherford, Casey Slagle and Caitlin Brown.
Heather Rynd, a 5'8 junior setter from Missouri will have a great impact on the squad according to new coach, Bubbles Lee.
Promising freshman include Leia Pittman, a 6'0 blocker out of Joplin,Missouri, Rebecca Dufford, a 5'10 Libero out of Ohio. Another freshman joining the squad will be Beth Ann Durbin who will make a difference.
Former All-Conference performer, Bubbles Lee will take over for Bill Burnside as head coach.
Lee commented on the 08 squad and season." I am excited about this opportunity to coach at the school I love. This team has a chance to be better than most people think. Last year's team was much better than the record indicated. Our seniors need to step up and be leaders. Our returning players need to play with confidence. The new players can really have an impact and can be a big part of a comeback season."
The Lady Eagles open the season at Freed-Hardeman September, 2 at 7pm.
