Lambuth Earns Historic Victory

Coach Andy Farmer knew when he signed two Jackson golfers in  Heath Lay and Scott Metcalf special things could happen. The two freshman led a second round comeback at Union University's Spring Invitational to propel Lambuth's team to it's first ever team golf tournament championship. The tournament was played both days at  Ross Creek Landing Golf Club.

Lay fired a one under 71 to win the individual title with a two day total of 150. Metcalf shot a one over 73 to finish in a tie for second with a two day total of 152.

The Eagles captured the team championship with a two day total of 632 . That was good enough for a six shot victory over UTM. Faulkner finished third while Union finished fourth. There were nine teams in the tournament.

Aaron Ingalls battled back from a early double bogey to fire a 75. Ingalls finished 11th. Other Lambuth scores included Eddy Whitaker (172) and Michael Mason (212). Lambuth's Christopher Moore played as an individual and shot a two day total of 211.

Coach Andy Farmer was thrilled with the victory." Heath and Scott were back and forth all day. They both played well and for them to be just freshman and accomplish what they did today is great. I am proud of them but I am also proud of all of our guys. They all battled and that is why we won by six strokes." Farmer added a thought about Aaron Ingalls, " Aaron got off to a tough start but showed a lot of poise by shooting a 75. This a great win for our program."
