The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced today it will extend its contract with the City of Jackson as host of the 2010 and 2011 NAIA Division I Women's Basketball National Championship.
The 30th and 31st annual championship events will be played at Oman Arena March 17-23, 2010, and March 16-22, 2011. The 5, 600 seat sports and entertainment venue has been the site of the national championship event since 1990.
" Jackson has become a second home for many of our programs. One of the great things about hosting the national championship in Jackson is the personal relationships you see develop between teams and the host city, " said Dennis Green, NAIA Manager of Championship Sports. " Everyone involved in the tournament does a fantastic job of making the student-athletes, coaches and fans feel welcomed and appreciated."
The Lambuth Lady Eagles have appeared in the tournament three straight years and played in the championship game two of the last three seasons. Lambuth won the national championship in 2007. Lambuth has seven tournament appearances.
