Juan Garzon Scores Two Goals Against Belhaven

If you had told Coach Paul Conway his squad would score four goals against 19th ranked Belhaven he would have probably taken his chances the Eagles could have pulled off an upset.

That did not happen Tuesday afternoon in Jackson, MS, as Belhaven held on to beat Lambuth 6-4.

After the Blazers scored the first four goals of the contest, Lambuth's Ross Brady scored at the 42nd minute to put Lambuth on the board. Just over a minute later the Eagles struck again on a goal by Marcelo do Valle. All of a sudden, The Eagles had cut the lead to 4-2 as the horn sounded to end the first period.

Belhaven scored first in the second period and built a three-goal lead. The Eagles fought back with two straight  goals by Juan Garzon  to pull  Lambuth within one of Belhaven.

The Blazers would add another goal to seal the victory.

Gavin Smith and Marcelo do Valle both were credited with assists  for the Eagles.

Lambuth fell to 3-4-1 on the year.

Coach Conway commented on the tough loss.. " We fell behind early and played catch up all day. We did ourselves no favors conceding four goals in the first 25 minutes. We showed great character to come back. It was a bizarre day."

Lambuth is back in action  Friday as the Eagles host Harding at 3 p. m.
