The 2008-2009 season marks the fifth season as Head Basketball Coach at Lambuth University for Kevin

Burton. In just four seasons, Burton has helped the Eagle's basketball team emerge into national prominence by becoming one of the most successful programs in the country. The Burton led Eagles have set several school records, highlighted by consecutive appearances to the 2006, 2007 and 2008 NAIA national tournament. The Eagles have averaged
26 wins per season during this impressive run. Burton's overall record is
92-36 as head mentor of the Eagles which has allowed him to compile
172 career victories at the tender age of 35.
Coach Burton has guided the Lambuth program to reach heights very few can claim. Lambuth University is 1 of only 8 schools in the entire country that have reached a top 5 national ranking in each of the last three seasons.
The entertaining 07-08 eagles finished #1 in the nation in scoring averaging an astounding 96 points per game. The fast paced Lambuth team scored 90 points or more 20 times during the 2007-2008 season.
Burton has 30 impressive wins over ranked opponents while at Lambuth. His Eagles have flown high at home boasting a 44-3 record in the friendly confines of Lambuth's Athletic Center over the past three seasons including a perfect 15-0 record in the 2006-2007 season.
Lambuth finished the 2007-2008 season ranked third in the nation with a final record of 30-4 and 18-2 in conference play. The Eagles won the 2007-2008 regular season TranSouth Championship and the TranSouth Tournament Championship. For his role in the team's achievements, Burton was named the 2008 TranSouth Athletic Conference Coach of the Year.
Several players have received special accolaids under Kevin Burton's tutledge over the past four seasons. He has coached 6 that have received all-american honors, 10 that have been all conference selections, 7 that have received all academic honors, 1 Olympic National team member, and 9 that have had the distinction of playing professional basketball. Burton has also had the pleasure of coaching the 2007 and 2008 "TranSouth Conference Player of the Year", in Ivan Jenkins ('07) and Glen Dandridge ('08). Jenkins was also the 2007 Basketball Times "NAIA National Player of the Year."
Prior to his arrival at Lambuth, Burton spent 4 successful seasons as the Head Coach at St. Catharine College in Kentucky leading his teams to 80 wins in four seasons. The Patriots were often found in the NJCAA national rankings as one of the top junior college programs in the country.
Burton earned a B.S. in Physical Education from Asbury College and an M.S. in Sports Administration from Eastern Kentucky University.
