Ever since she was young, Amanda Gentz a senior Health and Human Performance major, has been know by her mother as talkative, fun-loving, confident, hardworking, and even stubborn. Her personality was both accepted and cultivated through her parents’ ability to teach her valuable life lessons while also allowing her to explore on her own and learn things for herself.
As an adolescent she was always the one making friends with total strangers, having sleepovers, and participating in every sport and extracurricular activity imaginable. From swimming to dance and ballet, basketball to girl scouts and gymnastics Gentz was always busy doing something that occupied her time and challenged her as well. She was always asking to do more and trying to be at multiple places at once. SHe thanks her parents for allowing her to experience as much as she could possibly undertake with support and enthusiasm and she values that they always told her: “You can do anything you can put your mind to.”
Gentz says: "This mindset allowed me to follow my dream to play college volleyball. My ability to play for Lambuth University is both a privilege and a dream come true. All the endless hours of sweating, running, and playing has brought me to the point I am at today. I thank my parents and coaches for believing in me and allowing me to have the opportunities I have had thus far. I look forward to my last season as a collegiate volleyball player at Lambuth University and hope that this is another season to remember."
Gentz is the daughter of Steven and Mary-Ellen Gentz.
