Andrea Mason's, a fresman History-Education Major, swimming career began doing summer leagues and swim clinics in Knoxville, Tennessee in the fourth grade. As she progressed and became more interested in competitive swimming, she started looking at USA Swimming teams. Mason began year round swimming in the sixth grade in Maryville, Tennessee with BLAST Swimming. In the eighth grade, her family moved to Lebanon, Tennessee where she began swimming with MTSC Swimming. She swam at Lebanon High School and was the women’s swim team captain for those four years. LHS's women’s team went all four years undefeated in divisional swims. Mason qualified for the High School State Championship Meet all four years and was awarded the MVP Award and also a Leadership Award.

 

Academically, Mason took AP, Dual-Enrollment, and Honors classes in high school and graduated 11th in a class of 306 with highest honors. She graduated with over 12 hours of college credit from AP and Dual-Enrollment classes.

Mason says: "I swim most anything, but my best strokes are Freestyle and Backstroke. My goals for this year are to make it to the NAIA Championships and hopefully place well and drop my 100 yard Backstroke time to a 1:02 and my 50 yard Freestyle to a low 25. I would also like to be able to run 3 or 4 miles and not be dead afterwards and do pushups like guys in the army. Oh, and an 8pack :) would be nice too.

Some weird things about me: I like Olive Garden, it is my favorite Italian restaurant and I always get the same thing, cheese ravioli with marinara sauce. I drink sweet tea constantly. My favorite place to eat country cooking is at Sunset Restaurant in Lebanon, Tennessee and I always get broasted chicken with two orders of pinto beans and one order of lima beans and rolls (it is a meat and three type of place). My favorite Disney movie is Beauty and the Beast, but my favorite movie and book of all time is Pride and Prejudice. My favorite Broadway play is Oklahoma. I really like all types of music, but the band I like the most right  ow is My Last Mistake from the UK. Thomas Jefferson is my favorite historical person; he has the coolest bed at his house Monticello.
Washington D.C is my favorite city; it is the best place to live American history."
