The 2007-2008 season marks the fourth season as Head Basketball Coach at Lambuth University for Kevin Burton.  In just three seasons, Burton has helped the Eagle’s basketball team emerge into national prominence by becoming one of the most successful programs in the country.  The Burton led Eagles have set several school records, highlighted by consecutive appearances to the 2006 and 2007 NAIA national tournament.  The Eagles have averaged 24 wins per season during this impressive run.  So far in his time at Lambuth, Burton has compiled a record of 62-32 as the head mentor of the Eagles.

Coach Burton has guided the Lambuth program to reach heights very few can claim.  Lambuth University is 1 of only 15 schools that have reached a top 5 national ranking in each of the last two seasons including 8 consecutive weeks in the top 10 during the 2006-2007 season.  The Eagles were also considered one of the most exciting teams to watch finishing 2^nd in the nation in scoring per game.  The fast paced Lambuth team scored 89 points or more 20 times during the 2006-2007 season.

Lambuth finished the 2007-2008 regular season ranked third in the nation with a final record of 26-3 and 18-2 in conference play.  For his role in the team's achievements, Burton was named the 2008 TranSouth Athletic Conference Coach of the Year.

Several players have received special accolaids under Kevin Burton’s tutledge over the past three seasons.  He has coached 5 that have received all-american honors, 7 that have been all conference selections, and 3 that have received all academic honors.  Burton has also had the pleasure of coaching the 2007 “TranSouth Conference Player of the Year”, and 2007 Basketball Times “NAIA National Player of the Year” in Ivan Jenkins.

Prior to his arrival at Lambuth, Burton spent 4 successful seasons as the Head Coach at St. Catharine College in Kentucky leading his teams to an 80-45 record.  The Patriots were usually found in the NJCAA national rankings as one of the top junior college programs in the country.

Burton earned a B.S. in Physical Education from Asbury College and an M.S. in Sports Administration from Eastern Kentucky University.
