Yolanda Johnson spent last season at Pasadena City College, where she was in integral part of the team that finished with an overall record of 34-2. Johnson, a 5'8" guard hails from Las Vegas, Nevada and attended Valley High School. Johnson earned All- South Coast Conference First Team honors, as well as All-State during the 2005-2006 season at Pasadena City College.
Johnson averaged 14.7 ppg, 2.8 assists, 3.2 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game. She scored 20-plus points on six occasions in 2007, and also set a school record with nine 3-point baskets in a single game. In addition, Johnson notched a game-high 33 points in a victory over San Bernardino Valley.
Johnson had an outstanding prep career at Valley High in Las Vegas, Nevada, helping the basketball team win the division title as a senior. She was selected Sunrise Region All-Northeast Division First Team, and Prep All-American and finished fourth in the state in the triple jump (36-feet, 2-inches) on the track and field team.
She has three older brothers and is the youngest and only girl out of her siblings. She has 2 nieces Michala Johnson and Brandi Johnson in the 6th and 7th grade and a nephew Kevin Johnson Jr. who will be attending 1st grade. She is the only girl in her family that has attended college, received a scholarship in a sport, and the only girl that has ever played a sport besides her mother.
Johnson says: "I have also been a volunteer in the special Olympics for basketball. Someday I plan to continue my basketball career overseas and later on settle down and have a huge family of 7 children. I love to cook and hopefully one day I will fulfill my backup career as a massage therapist."
